![]() ![]() This design helped to ease crowding in the middle of the venue by basically installing rails midway through the room. The balcony is wonderful, but the terraced floor takes the cake. The way the room is laid out, you have a pretty decent view from just about any spot. The venue was absolutely gorgeous on the inside, with a diverse array of killer spots available to watch from. I finally got the chance to make good on this promise to myself for the three-night, tour-opening run at Denver’s Bluebird Theater. Upon hearing them, I made the decision almost immediately that I could not miss their next three night run of club shows. Although I wasn’t there, last year’s first-ever three-night run at the Sinclair in Boston, MA provided some of my favorite soundboard recordings I had heard from the band. ![]() This is helping the group to take their playing to the next level. For example, they are able to schedule multi-night runs in the same city now, which gives fans a chance to see the band after a day of rehearsing at the venue rather than a day of sitting in a van together. As they grow in both talent and notoriety, circumstances are allowing them to perform more even comfortably and naturally. Videos By John Mehren ( Vicarious Visions)Įver since I first saw their late night set at Summer Camp Music Festival in 2013, Dopapod is a band that has continuously inspired me through their music. Setlists and concert audio (links) will be posted after the fact.Photos By Amanda Siedner ( Amanda Sandwicch Photography) No promises, no regerts.Įxpect low-grade chip pr0n (T&A, no pen?), poorly lighted food shots, some out-of-context scenery pics and concert light show clips (the band ain't much to look at, but the light show has been killer in the past). Might try to hit the Pin Ball HoF for a couple additional hours away from the casino environment, as well. ![]() Sushi for lunch one day seems like a no-brainer, too. ![]() Likely extracurricular activities may include Rolling Smoke BBQ with a couple of Vegas noobs, Ellis Island for that blackened prime-rib and cheap (?) craps, day-time 2/5 at the Bell, late-night 1/2 at Bally's or MGM. There is no plan except to hit the concerts. I'll scope out the walk when I drive in first. I'm staying at PHo, hoping to maybe be able to walk either to/from Virgin to skip cab lines/$$$. But I digress.Ĭoncerts are Fri, Sat, Sun (never miss a Sunday show!) at the new Virgin property, formerly the Hard Rock. Anywho, since then, I've been back to LV for dozens of shows, the majority of which have been Widespread Panic (at Huntridge Th, Alladin/PHo Th, UNLV, MGM Grand, Hard Rock (RIP), Park Theatre, and now Virgin), but also Vegoose Fest (x2?), Rush (every tour since ~2000) and a bunch of shows at the Brooklyn Bowl (Jane's Addiction x2, Joe Russo's Almost Dead, The Word). This was well before I knew about casino poker, just VP and BJ and random slots, cheap eats n beerz ($1 Heinies and foot-longs at Slots-of-Drunks!). My love(/hate?) relationship with Vegas began in the 90's (91-95) when I would travel every year to see the Grateful Dead for 3 nights at the Sam Boyd Silver Stadium. Hitting Sin City Friday March 11 thru Monday March 14 for concerts, food and the low-stakes gambol/poker.Ī throw-back trip, if you will. ![]()
